Personality/Popularity: Bukiyo is shy, crippled by his lack of social skills and eager to please he tries hard to cultivate friendships but finds himself constantly rebuffed by the strict friendship groups of others. Again no one seems to notice that underneath his hesitant personality and plain clothing he is in fact a kind, loyal and very attractive young man. He’s had less than no experience with relationships beyond friendship and blushes easily, especially around his male classmates, something which he’s struggling to understand along with all the other fears that plague him on a daily basis. (His parents however, on his older brother’s indications noticed that th ere was something different about their son’s sexuality and decided to get rid of him so as not to blemish their other son’s reputation.)

Background: Bukiyo strived to get out from behind his older brother Kouji’s shadow; after his brother was accepted into a top Music conservatory in Tokyo and won many accolades for his musical talents. Despite all his efforts and studying no one even seemed to notice when he graduated to a well thought of high school or got some of his stories published for the first time. To Bukiyo it was a crushing disappointment and only served to re-enforce his self-loathing and sensitivity until except for school he became almost entirely isolated; plagued by worries about home life, his future and his failed relationships with his family. Eventually they got fed up of him and packed him off to the Harvey Institute to try and reform him.
