Personality: Moody and a little unstable, but kind and helpful to people in trouble. Has some good knowledge of medicine and wants to go to med school when she gets out of the Harvey Institute. She is highly intelligent but suffers from anorexia and eating disorders brought on by chronic body-image insecurity, which is why she has been sent to reform school as her father was at his wits'-end after several years of therapy failed to achieve any kind of improvement for his daughter.
Popularity: Fairly popular, especially among the boys, as she is exceptionally pretty; however, due to her high intelligence, she finds it almost impossible to get into a relationship with any of them as they are mostly intimidated by her. As a result, her inability to get a boyfriend reinforces her poor self-image and heightens her anorexia.
Background: Reiko was brought up in a wealthy family with many advantages in life - her father is a top-level cardiac surgeon; however, her mother died when she was eight years old, devastating both herself and her younger sister Kyoko. Her father re-married two years later to a woman who was severely jealous of Reiko and her sister's good looks, and constantly beat both girls and verbally abused them. Hence Reiko developed very low self-esteem issues and anorexia, and her sister committed suicide as a result of their stepmother's terrible treatment of them. After his youngest daughter's death, their father divorced their stepmother, but too late for the two girls. Reiko wishes to follow in her father's footsteps, but cannot control her psychological problems, hence she was sent to the Harvey Institute by her guilt-ridden father.
